There are several routes to slavery:
1) You enslave yourself and sign papers
2) Parent, Guardian, Spouse can enslave you
3) There is also "Self Enslavement" meaning your behavior (like excessive slave play)

I liked the ending of this story as it had a happy ending, or at least as happy that is possible for the characters. Second I like how it points out the importance of enforcing the Rules with something like legal slavery. Not following the rules will end up in a free for all, and a fall in public ...

Interesting idea for a story. To some it might be iffy because of having children in it, though not doing anything, they are witnessing it.
