Chapter 4

The next morning, Madison hit the road. The crisp autumn air and gray skies cast a somber tone over the trip. She drove the first hundred miles with a feeling of dread creeping up on her. But even before lunchtime, she had passed out of Indiana and was among the green hills of Kentucky. The cold morning air had been warmed by the sun, and the sky cleared into a beautiful bright blue, with serene white fluffy clouds.

She put the top of her red beamer down, and her mood lightened. She had let her imagination run away with her this morning, undoubtedly affected by the Jack O'Lanterns and plastic headstones that had decorated her neighborhood for the last week. But the open road and temperatures in the 70s had raised her spirits.

The simplest answer was probably the correct one. Kristen had gone on her latest crusade and found nothing but an empty highway near a water tower. She spent a couple days asking questions around town before giving up in frustration. She hadn't responded to calls because, how humiliated would you be? Her friend was probably at a bed and breakfast, putting off the embarrassing task of coming back home and getting teased. After all, it's not like Madison was really known for letting things go without saying "I told you so".

A smile crept onto Madison's face as she cruised down the winding highway. It would be good to see Kristen again, and she'd definitely try to rein herself in. Only two or three I told you sos, at the max.

It was early afternoon when she crossed the Tennessee border into Alabama. The air was warm and Madison had to remove her sweater. She wore a white tank top underneath it, and looking at herself in the visitor's center bathroom mirror, she looked presentable enough. She got a coke from the vending machine and picked up a few fliers detailing things to do in Alabama. Maybe Kristen had grown bored of her investigations and gone to one of these? But nothing jumped out as being something that would grab her friend's attention. Nothing that was just so Kristen that she couldn't resist.

Maddie found a comfortable chair with its back to a wall and opened her laptop. Her directions app was leading her to the location of the water tower, but it's not like Kristen would just be standing there this whole time. She should find some hotels in the surrounding towns, someplace her friend might stay. The water tower would serve as the center of her search radius. She zoomed in on the map and began carefully looking around, not knowing exactly what she was hunting for, only just waiting for something to catch her attention.

And then, as Maddie sipped her coke, her eyes fixed on the screen.

"Holy shit..." she whispered.

It couldn't be real. Why the hell hadn't she seen this before? She must have searched this area 50 times at Kristen's house. Right there, just down the road from the water tower, was the town. The town from the videos.

'Directions from this location'. The map brought up a bright blue line, where to go, when to turn, which back roads to take. She still had more than two and a half hours of driving left, but now she felt real excitement. The mission to find her friend, which ever since the weather cleared this morning had felt like a silly adventure, now took on a new sense of urgency.

'What do you think you're going to find there, Maddie?' Well that answer was obvious. She was going to find Kristen. She was absolutely sure of that now. The woman was probably at some roadside motel, scouting out locations that she'd seen in her videos. Obviously those things had to be filmed *somewhere*, and why not at some podunk little town in the middle of the Deep South?

Madison used the restroom and then climbed back into her car. She left her laptop open, the destination and directions still visible. She wouldn't have internet service, but who knows if she could find this again. She had already checked on her phone and it didn't seem able to pull it up. She would grab dinner at a drive-thru on the way. Based on her estimates, she should make it there easy with a good two hours to spare before nightfall.

The BMW got back onto I-65 headed south. With excitement and just a bit of anxiety running through her veins, Madison's foot found the accelerator and kept it pressed down hard. Her heart pounded, and a large grin broke out onto her face. Whatever she was going to find, she was going to find it in a little over two hours. She couldn't wait.

Without realizing it, Maddie began squeezing her thighs together in anticipation. She felt tingly down there, and a little damp.

Two hours and fifteen minutes later, Madison turned onto a two lane highway that was surrounded by trees on both sides. She had made, as the locals would say, "damned good time". She drove for another fifteen minutes, and then things started to look familiar. There was nothing definite, nothing as easy to identify as the water tower, but she was certain this was the right area. She was close enough to smell it.

Hers was the only car on the road, so when she slammed on her brakes, she didn't get rear-ended. There it was. A sign, clear as could be. How had she missed this before?

Doeville, next right.

"They must hunt a lot of deer around here," she said aloud. It would make sense, this *was* the middle of nowhere. They probably handed you a double-barrel shotgun as soon as you moved in.

She let off the brake and tentatively pressed down on the gas. The car began to creep forward. Now that she was here, really here, the sense of dread from this morning had returned. What did she think was going to be here? It was just some backwater town, probably a hundred people living there at most, right? And if a couple of those folks made amateur pornos, well that wouldn't be a first. She should have checked with the hotels in the nearby towns, like she had intended before. That's where Kristen probably was.

And yet, she knew she had to come here right away. Something was compelling her to visit this place, to see it with her own eyes. Waiting was out of the question. She could see the turn-off now, just a little asphalt road that disappeared back amongst the trees. Blink and you'll miss it. She stopped the car again, this time on the shoulder of the highway. Madison put the vehicle in park.

Her heart was pounding. "Why am I so nervous?" She both knew and didn't know the answer to that. She knew that in this town, she would find answers. What those answers would be? That was something else.

Madison looked down at the open laptop that rested in her passenger seat. The open map showed no progress, of course, without a connection it had remained unchanged since she left the rest stop. But here she was, at the end of the line. That thought struck her as a little too final. 'End of the line'. She was letting her imagination get the better of her. No service on her phone, it figured. Reception had been spotty for the last hour.

She reached over to the track pad, moved the cursor, and clicked. The image of the map disappeared. In its place was a video tab, paused in mid-playback. A woman with strawberry hair and a red, sopping wet cunt was being locked in stocks in the town square. A line of men that seemed to stretch around the block were behind her. Each had a five dollar bill in hand, ready to give a smiling deputy.

Madison put the car in gear and turned right.

To be continued...

Next chapter, Madison finds the mysterious town and takes a look around. The action should start heating up soon.

Thank you! The remaining chapters should hopefully be up in two or three days. Just depends on when I next get a good block of dedicated writing time.

Very well written story. I am eagerly looking forward to the next installments. I love a good set-up and you have done a great job giving our two protagonists some depth to their characters. Your pacing is excellent and the scenes are quite erotic to say the least.

Great job so far.

For being your first story of this kind it is very very good.

I really like that it has it's own universe.

Looks very promising, thanks for sharing!

I'm quite enjoying the story. Great characters, nice build, awesome suspense. Plus I'm flattered that the story takes place in Doeville, the town I founded. I think the statue of me in the towns square is an excellent likeness. :-)
