Question on images

In my recent stories I've included links to ladies that resemble the characters in the story. There are a couple of reasons that I started this, but I noticed a comment on this board where there are those that have a preference for their own imagination.

Can I get a temperature check, how many enjoy my putting these links to images into the stories? And how many do not think this adds to the stories?
(There are no right or wrong answers, just personal preferences ;) )

I know that we all enjoy Orflash's amazing finds that he gets inspired from the stories, which was a definite influence for why I'm adding them. Orflash I don't think I've thanked you enough for your finding and sharing these treasures that you post. Thank you and please keep brightening our lustful imaginations with them.

I like them both, the ones I post and the links to other images. I do this because I'm not much of a writer, but I've been a photographer and photo editor for 40 years.

GreyRose: you could start a poll in a new topic. So, every member can vote / answer.
The poll question could be "Do you like it when a story author gives pictures or links to pictures of the characters in his/her story?".
The possible answers are up to you, you wouldn't be limited to a simple "yes" or "no".
I could imagine that there is a subtle difference between providing a link to a photo in the www, and actually showing the images embedded in the story text. (I, for one, prefer the first way. Readers who don't like pictures can then refrain from clicking the link.)
Another detail could be the target of links, should the links always point to our Stripsearch gallery? Or anywhere in the www. (Again, I prefer the first way. So we get a growing album for a story or story universe in our gallery. Links to any site in the www could become dangling links after some time.)
I can assist you in the technical process of creating the poll, if you have questions.

I personally prefer to use my imagination instead of being forced to see images of characters as part of a story. Most people do that anyway using their mind's eye to imagine not only characters but scenery, settings, clothing, etc. I do that to let my mind wander and the more verbal detail an author puts into a story the more my mind gets a workout. You see I am old school and prefer reading books with actual TEXT rather than watching a movie or a slick Powerpoint presentation. I suspect that most author's over the several hundred years that novels have been published DON'T include a lot of mages in their works, if any, to accommodate that preference of their readers. Of course we ARE talking porn (erotica) here rather than classic literature so I suspect my view in this genre is probably in the minority.

That said, I think your method of posting a link instead of inserting an image directly into the story is a great compromise as is Orflash's technique of adding a folder to the gallery with the story's name and posting images there for readers to scroll through if they so desire.

I can subscribe to everything posted so far. Orflash's work is amazing! I tend to use reference pictures while writing and orflash's gallery has helped loads with my writing process. I also think that pictures CAN be a great addition but especially when it comes to how the heroines look I prefer to use my imagination (though there can be exceptions).

I think adding the images as links (to the StripSeach Gallery ofc) is the best compromise. Worst case szenario is that someone doesn't like the image and imagines something else. I personaly always enjoy some visual reference

(I don't want to hijack GreyRose's thread, but I also wonder if people enjoy the images I add as reference, especially the edited ones since they can take quite some work)

I love the images. Sometimes I use them in my own head and sometimes I don't. I do like to know what the author had in mind when he/she wrote the story. Just my two cents.

As someone who does prefer my own imagination, I have no issue with you giving your description since I am just going to make changes if I feel like it (the power of imagination!) and I like it for all those things that are visually hard to describe. It's a nice assist when you are talking about positions or restraints or whatever.

Was it me that you were referring to? I said something like that not long ago. Don't overthink it.
