Q for Joe Doe fans: What is the first Joe Doe story featuring Ashley?

I'm kicking around an idea for another Joe Doe spinoff featuring the Sheriff and Ashley. Does anyone know which story they first met in?

According to this link, the first story featuring Ashley Marsh was "Southern Discomfort".

Ok, gave it a quick read, and it has Ashley talking to the mayor, not the Sheriff. Which means that Ashley's first encounter with the sheriff would seem to be her mention in "Teasing Terri" where we hear that she is working at the truckstop. So her first "hands on" experience hasn't actually been written... gives me free rein to fill in the blanks.

That story happens much later in the timeline. It also features Ashley as a judge, not a lawyer, so it can't be her first encounter.
